In mainstream culture, comedy is entertainment. It’s a distraction. But in our community, comedy has always been something deeper. It was a survival mechanism. It was the only way we could tell the raw, unfiltered truth about our pain, our joy, and our oppressors without being destroyed.

Look at the history. From Redd Foxx to Richard Pryor. From In Living Color to The Kings of Comedy. We didn't just "tell jokes." We reinvented the language of humor. We took the struggle and alchemized it into joy. We created a culture that the entire world now mimics.

Comedy wouldn't be the same without us. In fact, modern comedy wouldn't exist without us.

But here is the hard truth: We built the culture, but we don't own the stage. We fill the arenas, but we don't sign the checks.
