Out of that human induced darkness into the light of a self-built future of hope and creation. The ashes of your chosen past sins remain. Equally as I inherit this journey you too inherit the responsibility to make amends.

It marks both the dark origin of the Transatlantic Slave Trade – a brutal, forced beginning – and simultaneously, the powerful new beginning of self-determination, resilience, and creation forged by our people. It is a story of chains and the birth of an unbreakable spirit.
This profound duality is what our new "Genesis" high-impact tee design embodies. It serves as a tangible symbol of this complex, yet ultimately triumphant, truth.
The Dark Genesis: A History We Must Confront
The Transatlantic Slave Trade, spanning centuries, was an unprecedented crime against humanity. Its genesis lies in the 15th and 16th centuries, driven by European powers seeking immense wealth from the "New World." Nations like Portugal, Britain, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and Denmark became primary architects of this human trafficking.
Our "Genesis" crest visually confronts this history. It powerfully conveys authority, heritage, and official status. Within this striking mark, there are six distinct sections, each representing one of the primary European powers involved. The flag itself is also subtly integrated within that section, ensuring both visual coherence and clear recognition.
Crucially, the Papal Keys are centered on top of the badge. This visually represents the Catholic Church's overarching endorsement and authority over the trade. Placing them on top is a powerful and historically accurate indictment of their role, asserting their position at the "genesis" of this horror. Underneath this powerful mark, the word "Genesis" firmly anchors the symbol to its meaning.
The Genesis of Resilience & New Creation: Our Unbreakable Spirit
Yet, even from that horrific beginning, the spirit of our ancestors refused to be extinguished. Their story is not just one of suffering, but of an indomitable will to survive, resist, and create. This is the Genesis of Resilience.
Despite the chains, they preserved their culture, their languages, their spiritual practices, and their very humanity. They resisted in countless ways, laid groundwork for future generations, and cultivated a spirit of ingenuity that allowed them to build something from nothing. This is the "new beginning" aspect – a creation born out of defiance and an inherent drive for freedom. It is the ultimate testament to "self-built" – creating a future despite the forced beginning.
