It Takes a Village: A Direct Call to Black Women
Dear Black women, I want to speak to you first and directly because I believe that you will be the catalyst for what I have created. I also believe that you are the most powerful force on this planet.
This isn't praise; this is strategic acknowledgment. Historically, Black women have always been the primary cultural and economic stabilizers of our community. You are the foundation that has never failed, the constant force that has held us together and preserved our legacy, in spite of everything. That fact alone makes you the essential engine for this mission.
I know you’re tired, I also know that it’s been a long time coming. I want you to know that I can see the finish line and we’re almost there. Thank you for being everything our families and this community has ever needed. You are appreciated.
Progress, holistic progress, for all of us is slow to non-existent. If we’ve been waiting on something or someone outside of ourselves, I can’t for the life of me understand why? What our community truly deserves can only be accomplished if we self-build.
I’d like to share with you the end results of a mission accomplished—a world where the future of the Black community is not a promise; it is an undeniable reality.
A New Economic Reality: The end result is the permanent elimination of the racial wealth gap, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem of businesses, wealth, and capital that is owned and controlled by the Black community. It is a society where the systemic economic deficit, which has existed since 1619, no longer exists.
Holistic Well-Being: The end result is a society where Black people have equitable access to essential resources—from healthcare to education—and are no longer subjected to the generational traumas of systemic injustice. It is a society where well-being is not a privilege but a fundamental right.
Independent Power: The end result is a world where the Black community has full control over its own narrative and destiny. It is a world where political and cultural power is not dependent on external approval but is a self-built, unshakeable force.
Before I go any further, I want to ask: How does this make you feel strictly from an emotional perspective? You can reflect personally, or you can answer publicly. Yes, I do care. I doubt I’m the only one because so many of our experiences are shared.
If I could offer you one thing, it would be hope. Not a fragile hope based on external validation, but a strong hope rooted in ownership and community.
We have survived everything, and that fact alone is our power. I know we can build our own way. 'We ARE NOT what has been done to us.' We cannot afford to wait any longer. If we don't build this now, who will? The time for a self-built future is an emergency. It’s time to see the result of our collective genius. It’s time to feel the stability of owning our own future.
Now I want you to close your eyes and imagine the joy of a self-determined future where our community controls its destiny, its wealth, and its narrative. The Declaration: It Takes a Village
