The Mandate: The Only Future We Accept
Dear Black people,
There are absolutely zero chances things change in our community unless we lead that change. Current situation aside, our trajectory projects a future where the well being of our community is very distant if not almost unattainable. First, we are NOT what has been done to us. Second, this system wasn’t designed for us to succeed. Last, the only future we must accept is the one we design.
My name is Lesha and I am the founder of Self-Built Legacy Foundations. Our mission is to eliminate poverty and foster holistic well-being in the Black community by building a robust economic foundation from the ground up, while simultaneously ensuring access to essential resources and building power for systemic change.
This is the type of massive and targeted intervention I believe we need. Change has’t come, change isn’t coming and in some cases we’ve regressed. I stand before you today as one man ready, willing and capable of contributing to the change we deserve. I don’t know if I believe in destiny but I do know that I have found my purpose. I will spend the rest of my life seeing it through. Our past is a living legacy that will always guide us. I believe it's not my courage, but that of our ancestors, that has led me here. They'd want us to look to the future, but never forget.
It may or may not be to late for our parents, It’s not to late for us and as for our kids the next generation it’s a must. A past and present of continued moral failings of nations aside as we do the opposite and ACT. For the tomorrow we deserve is up to us. Failure to design a better future has consequences beyond this generation. Let's forge a lasting legacy. For the past, for the present and for the future of the black community.
Now, I can’t do this without your support. The first thing I’d suggest you do is go to self-builtlegacyfoundations.com review our mission and how we plan to accomplish it. Next, our ask is relatively small compared to what we all have to gain, therefore your financial commitment is critical. Ultimately, I’ve designed this mission to be self-sustaining. Last, pass the message with intent to ensure it reaches all of us.
To the privilege who are not like them, your resources are also accepted.
