The Hierarchy of Repair: Fixing the Soil

For 400 years, we have been hacking at the leaves of the problem.

We fight poverty. We fight bias. We fight for a seat at the table. But those are just symptoms. At Self-Built Legacy Foundations, we aren't fixing the leaves. We are fixing the soil.

Our mission is to eliminate poverty and foster holistic well-being in the Black community via these four pillars.

Pillar 1: Building Black Wealth

Let’s turn the light on. The everyday reality is that we are running on a treadmill—working hard just to stay in the same place. That is Survival. Our Vision is Significance. We are building an ecosystem where your labor builds your legacy, not someone else's stock price. We aren't just creating jobs; we are creating Equity. We stop climbing the corporate ladder, and we start Owning the Building.

Pillar 2: Essential Resources

Let's get real about what this means. The reality is we are entrusting our lives to systems that weren't designed to save us. When they ignore our pain in the hospital, or police our children in the classroom, that isn't an accident. That is structural. The Fix isn't "better access" to their broken system. The Fix is Infrastructure. We build the hospitals. We build the schools and write the curriculum. We own the food supply. We stop asking for better treatment, and we start Setting the Standard.

Pillar 3: Community-Led Revitalization

They call it "Urban Renewal," but for us, it usually means "Removal." The reality is our history is being erased and our people priced out. The Fix is Resilient Spaces. We don't just build housing; we build spaces that reflect our strength and our culture. We empower local leadership—not outside developers—to hold the pen. We provide the resources so the neighborhood grows with us, not over us.

Pillar 4: Independent Power & Systemic Transformation

This is the heavy lifting. We are talking about Independent Economic Power—owning the banks, not just the accounts.Political Power—writing the policy, not just voting for it. Media Power—controlling the narrative so our story isn't a debate. We are dismantling the barriers and building a new system... on our terms.

When you fix the foundation, the structure stands for generations. We are done asking for repairs. We are building the new house. This is the blueprint.
